Do you care about giving an attractive speech?
In this article, you will learn some easy tips for giving an attractive speech. You can quickly learn them and use them for your presentation.
Have you ever considered to talk about something boring very attractively? I had a presentation for a private company 3 years ago. it was about customer service. Well, yes. It is not an attractive subject. So I had to make it like one.
At the end of the presentation, the manager came to me, thanked me and asked how did I make an attractive presentation out of a boring subject?
Do you want to know about some tips for giving an attractive speech? In this article, I will explain 10 simple ways to present a boring subject attractively.
1- Communicate with your audience before starting the presentation
Take your time to talk to your audience for 10 minutes before you start the presentation. it helps you and them to have a general view over each other.
Also, you can use the information you have gathered to start your presentation in a friendlier way. This method helps you with the primary communication and relationship with the audience.
You can create a poll. some times before your presentation, ask the audience a question with two or more answers and ask them to raise their hands when they agree with one of the answers.
2- Use stories and examples for giving an attractive speech
A story or an example of what you are going to talk about in your presentation excites the audience. A wonderful story prevents the environment from being boring and stable.
You need to choose the stories related to your presentation subject. It’s best if they are also related to the place and the audience you are presenting for.
3- Three important points for giving an attractive speech
The audience can’t remember much information in a short time. three important points are enough.
4- Talk about the audience’s feed-backs
Once, I showed one of my clients’ emails. Then I asked one of the audience to read it aloud and find the mistakes.
After that, I asked all of them to say how many mistakes did they find. We clapped for the one who had the right answer. This is how you can break the ice.
5- Have energetic activities based on where you are.
These activities divide into 6 different kinds.
a- Personal activities
Pantomime is good for body language. Here, you see the audience engage in a pantomime.
b- Activities with the one sitting next to you
Here you can see the audience playing games with the person next to them. also, you can ask them to ask some questions from each other and share the answers.
c- Group activities for all of them
You can ask the audience to take several deep breaths or do some light exercise so they can be refreshed and more ready for the rest of the presentation.
d- Activities in small groups
If it’s possible you can take them outside and ask them to work and practice in groups of 4 or 5. In this picture, you see some group works.
e- Group discussion between all of them
It’s easier for the audience to share their answers and ideas in a big group. This beg group must contain all of the people in your presentation. these parts of a presentation are pretty good because people only talk about their ideas and no one judged others.
It depends on your subject and the situation but competition between the audience is effective. for example, once we had a competition between groups of 5. They had to make a shield for eggs so they don’t break easily. In the end, we threw the eggs for 3 meters. Each groups’ egg didn’t break; they were the winner.
Finally, these activities can be asking questions. You can ask the audience what they have learned until now and whether they have questions.
6- Make changes during the presentation
Before my speech, I never plan what to do during the presentation. some activities depend on the situation and the time.
7- Sense of humor in the presentation
Satire can be planned before or happened at the moment. So it depends on the situation and the time but you can also plan it before the presentation or you can come up with something funny during the speech.
8- Present simply but effectively
Be careful not to talk for the whole time of your presentation because no matter how attractive and useful your intel is, the audience gets tired of sitting and listening. some audience can’t keep up and write all the notes they want. When they fall behind, they get nervous and can’t listen to the rest of the speech.
Make sure you give the audience enough time to have a break and complete their notes.
9- Use interesting images in your slides
It’s better if you use images of relevant images to your title.
10- Call to action is the final step for giving an attractive speech
What do you want the audience to do at the end of your presentation?
I am certain that you want them to learn what you have taught them and use them in their life.
The information must be the way that the audience can conclude something from it and use it in real life.
Best way to do so is “call to action” method. At the end of your speech, ask the audience to do something related to the title of the presentation.
Most of the presentation doesn’t have a clear call to action. Therefore, they will be forgotten soon and the audience thinks the speech wasn’t so useful after all.
Once, I had a webinar poll two weeks after the presentation. the audience participated in that webinar after two weeks and it made my presentation useful and the audience learned pretty well from it and focused on it.
I hope you can prepare an attractive presentation with these simple ways for giving an attractive speech.
