1- The importance: which one is the priority?

The difference between self confidence and self esteem is pretty much.
Maybe it’s not that easy to answer this question and know which one is more important because in communication studies and generally, Humanities it’s not right to have a specific answer.
After reading this article, you’ll learn that self esteem is a more functional tool and it’s more critical than self confidence. One reason for this claim is that self esteem explains our feeling about being valuable while the other can either exist in every task or not!
In other words, although someone can have self esteem, he can be confident in doing something but not in the other one. For example, if you have self esteem, you certainly feel valuable enough to be self confident.

2- Can we have high self confidence but zero self esteem?
The answer is Yes. We may have enough skill to do something and have a positive perspective about it but we may not be very successful in having self esteem.
For instance, a speaker has self confidence in public speaking and communication but in the middle of his presentation he tries many times to question other speakers by dispraise, humiliation and criticizing them!

3- Overconfidence or over self esteem
We all heard about overconfidence. We know it affects our decisions and behavior and we make mistakes. But is there anything like over self esteem?
One other difference is that we can be overconfident but there is no such a thing as over self esteem. Self esteem is like mental health. The more healthy we are, the better! There is no such a thing as too much health!
4- In one aspect and all aspects
Another difference between them is that you can easily be self-confident. Boosting self esteem is much harder. As we mentioned before, self confidence exists in one aspect (or it doesn’t) but self esteem exists in all aspects of our mind.
5- Improving both
It’s easier to boost self confidence because we can easily learn some skills to do something and with more practice, we can have a positive outlook about it. On the other hand, self esteem is complicated that we will explain it in another article and tell you about the solutions.
The similarities
They both depend on people around us.
Both of them can be improved or lowered.
They both are related to each other.
