Ten speech mistakes
There are ten mistakes in public speaking that make you fail at your speech and can’t have an effective presentation.
1- Not checking the slides
Before you use PowerPoint presentation, check it out to make sure it will work. Make sure you have a back-up file. This way if something goes wrong, you won’t be embarrassed in front of the audience, and you don’t get nervous.
2- Do not think you can do it without planning

You need to have a plan before you start a speech or you make some speech mistakes
Most speakers don’t practice. They believe in “when I have a speech, I am afraid. If I don’t practice, I won’t be anymore!”
One of the best ways is to be prepared and present with full self-confidence. It’s one of the speech mistakes to pretend we can have a great presentation without any rehearsal because we want to eliminate our fear.
3- Ignoring the facts and problems
You can’t pretend to be ready for each speech, and you don’t have enough time to practice! It’s a good idea to manage your time. You don’t have to speak faster or miss some of your lectures because you don’t have time

4- Inappropriate subject

Choose a proper title for your presentation to prevent the speech mistakes from happening
One of the biggest speech mistakes is that inexperienced speakers choose a topic without audience analysis. You can pick a suitable topic based on what generation, age and interest your audience has.
5- Writing the whole speech
It’s one of the speech mistakes to write a speech so that you won’t forget it.
We have talked about how our brain learns. The brain likes to know the whole story and then go to the details. The details should have an organized and logical path and lead to the general theme. I am sure this will make a wonderful and impressive speech.
6- Writing the script on slides
When you write many notes and topics in slides, the audience doesn’t notice them. PowerPoint is a place for highlights and important stuff, not the whole text!

One of the speech mistakes is to memorize it.
If you memorize your speech, the audience becomes bored. You can use graphs, images, and videos in your slides.
7- Using professional words

T.J walker talks about using hard words for speech mistakes
T.J Walker says: We don’t have a technical speech, science speech or economic speech! We only have two kinds of speech: one that is effective and one that is a disaster!
Any speech can have specific words and phrases which only people who work at your field know about it. You may think you seem more intelligent and skillful by sharing all these hard words, but it’s wrong. It’s simple words that affect your audience and attract them.
8- Staying up late at the night before you have a presentation
Drinking too much coffee the night before you have a speech and staying up late won’t work well. Do not eat heavy meals and don’t drink coffee which makes you sleepy on the day you have a presentation. The audience notices all these signs: tired eyes, lose body language, etc.

One of the speech mistakes is to stay up late at the night before we have a presentation
9- Remembering previous failures
Try to imagine your success in this, not to remember the failures you had. Do not focus on negative thoughts. Try to lighten up and improve your self-confidence and share it with the audience. The more you see your presentation positively, the more self-confident you feel.
10- You say!
