How to overcome the fear of public speaking and presentations by using PowerPoint
It’s important for all of us to overcome the fear of public speaking and we always look for new methods and tactics to overcome this fear. It’s vital for us not to gasp, have trembling hands and dry mouth or even rhinorrhea.
Why do we fear public speaking?
Almost most people imagine that it’s only them that have such a fear and they make such a big deal out of it. The way they speak about it is like it’s a big secret and no one has! But the truth is that everyone- precisely most people- has this fear and somehow shows it.
Some people have trembling hands during public speaking, some gasp and feel blushing, their mouth becomes dry and they forget what they want to say.
We all experience the fear of public speaking and presentations and we are not the only ones. It’s inclusive enough that the famous belletrist and writer, Mark Twain says:
There are two types of speakers: those that are nervous and those that are liars
Fear of public speaking can have many reasons but mostly it’s because we don’t have enough recognition about the subject and 90% of times, it’s the same in public speaking. In public speaking, we don’t know anything about the environment and our brain thinks it’s in jeopardy: we might do something wrong or no one will listen to us and trust us.
Therefore, we can tell an important method to overcome the fear of public speaking:

I am sometimes nervous about my presentations, too!
I am almost certain that no one who is reading this had more presentations then me(sometimes, ten presentations in one week), but still, it might be interesting for you to know that I am nervous in some of my presentations, too.
For example, when I first wanted to have a presentation in one of our huge and famous salons, I was very nervous. Now I am less worried because I had many presentations in the same big salons elsewhere.
Or sometimes when I had to speak in public in another city, I was frightened because I thought they could be different citizens. Now I’d be glad to have presentations in other towns.
If there are some unknown features in our public speaking, they increase our fear. We have to practice more and be in the same situation to lower our fear.

3- Test the program
I had this experience many times at college. They connect a flash memory to a computer and after checking the slides, they say: why PowerPoint is not working?
It’s essential to arrive sooner and test the presentation file first.
4- Non-normative PowerPoint
If you create a non-normative and incorrect PowerPoint presentation (for instance, typing all the lecture with no video or image), it will only make everything worse. Because in the middle of the presentation you see the audience is confused: they don’t know they have to listen to you or read the PowerPoint and finally they decide to do neither.

If you create a standard PowerPoint presentation, you have a powerful tool to use and you can be sure that you don’t fear anymore.
Because the main thing to do is to reduce the unknowns:
1- Do not forget the script
One of our biggest worries is fear of forgetting what we want to say and it makes our brain to use most of its energy. Now if we created a standard PowerPoint presentation, we will know for sure that the subject we want to talk about is right in front of us and the audience!
2- Have domination over the subject and organize it.

3- Plan everything long before you start
When you create a PowerPoint presentation, you have to plan how you want to present your subject and this lowers the unknowns and you will be predominant. When you planned it all before, your mind thinks it’s a repeated situation. This leads you to be less nervous.
