How to present like Steve Jobs?
Most people know the founder of Apple company, Steve Jobs, as a successful manager and a creative thinker. But no one talked about his public speaking skills., the one subject caused his success. In this article, I want to talk about his unique attributes in public speaking. Several ways and methods that you can use to improve your skills in your public speaking so that you can present like Steve Jobs.
First, I suggest you watch his presentation about IPad so that you can understand what I am going to explain.
Steve Jobs has been stunning in his recent presentations and many marketing experts see his public speaking skill as one of the reasons for his success.
1- Simple words
We have to consider this simple rule. Most speakers think if they use hard words, the audience believes they have enough knowledge. But the fact is that if we want to have an effective presentation, we have to use simple words. If you see the famous presentations in the whole world, you begin to notice that in most of them the speaker uses the simplest word so that even children can understand. One tactic Steve Jobs uses is simple words. Even if you are not good at English, you can still understand what he is saying.
2- Visualization
Since people’s sight is mostly stronger than their hearing power, the best speakers try to visualize everything. Using images and sentences that describe something so well that the audience can imagine what they are saying, is the best tactic for successful lecturers.
If you want to present like Steve Jobs, you have to know that how he uses this tactic in his presentations. He tries to use images as much as he can. He can have a better public speaking by using simple words to describe something; as a result, the audience can imagine it better.
3- Storytelling

If you want to present like Steve Jobs, you have to use storytelling tactic like him
As no children hate stories, no audience hate a lecturer telling a story! All of us somehow love to hear a story. Professional speakers use storytelling very well.
An excellent attractive story which is related to the subject can make everyone listens to our presentation and keep it in mind.
If you follow Steve Jobs’ public speaking, you have noticed that he always tells short or even long stories to his audience. For example, his public speaking at Stanford University was mostly his life stories.
Since we always see ourselves as the character of the story, our mind always gets involved in it, and it makes us remember the story and the message it has shown us.
4- Involve the audience emotionally
It’s wrong to convince and attract the audience with reason and logic all the time. People are emotional too so if we focus on logic, emotional people will not contact with our subject. You may find it interesting that researchers found in their recent experiments that emotional aspect in people is stronger than the logic aspect!
Steve Jobs not only uses this tactic in his presentation, but he uses it for his promotions and advertisements. He always talks about his product’s beauty and the fact that how Apple will bring us peace and joy and makes us do things faster and better. So if we want to present like Steve Jobs, we have to involve the audience more emotionally that reasonably.
5- Questions

If you want to present like Steve Jobs, involve the audience’s mind by asking a question.
The human mind has designed the way that it won’t involve in something unless we ask it a question. You experienced it at school. When you have a question, you don’t rest until you get the answer and you can’t focus on other things.
If a speaker asks a purposive question, you can never be distracted in the middle of his presentation and you want to listen to it all so that you can answer that question.
Steve Jobs asked a question in his presentation of IPad and he began his public speaking with it: “there is a gap between mobile phones and computers. What can be between them?”. And then he started talking about his product by involving the audience’s mind. You can present like Steve Jobs by asking a proper and well-timed question and only then you can be sure that others stick to their chair to listen to what he wants to say.
6- Sense of humor

If you want to present like Steve Jobs, you have to use your sense of humor in a propper way.
Being fun is a good tactic in public speaking. If we can make the audience smile during the presentation, they accept us. Of course, there are some rules in using this particular tactic so I strongly suggest not to use it if you don’t know the rules.
But Steve Jobs can use his sense of humor in his benefit. He always plays pranks on his weaker products the way that the audience laugh. Changing the presentation’s atmosphere with jokes is beneficial.
7- A professional PowerPoint presentation

It’s good to use PowerPoint if you want to present like Steve Jobs
PowerPoint is one software that all speakers – amateur or expert – use it. Since there is always a projector and a computer in every salon nowadays, most speakers prefer to use PowerPoint rather than photos in their hands or using toilsome machines like Overhead. But most people make some huge mistakes in doing so because they don’t have enough knowledge to use PowerPoint.
If you want to present like Steve Jobs, you better know that he always creates the best PowerPoint presentation. He never reads the script from the slides, never writes so much in them and uses images in his slides, never uses many effects on his images and a simple professional slide is perfect enough to complete his presentation.
