A useful public speaking technique
Bryan Tracy, famous writer and an expensive speaker introduce the windscreen wiper method as a public speaking technique in his bestseller book named “speak to win“. This public speaking technique is to keep the audience’s attention.

Windscreen wiper is a public speaking technique which Brian Tracy introduced in his book
windscreen wiper method in public speaking
Our brain has two hemispheres: right and left. These two separate parts of brain process different things and if we can use them professionally, we will get an excellent result.
Left hemisphere analyzes facts, data, process and reacts to these kinds of things. Right hemisphere examines stories, excitements, music, examples, and hobbies.
After this introduction, it’s time to go to the windscreen method. When we want to talk about something, it’s better to speak about some facts and information and involve the left hemisphere. Then we can talk about a story or an example immediately.
In this case, we involved the two brain hemispheres, as a result, the power of learning not only goes up to two times but 3 times more.
Sometimes if the speaker uses a professional way and the audience is great in learning, the power of learning can increase to 11 times. But even the minimum effect, 3 times, is a big step and it makes the speaker successful.
For instance, imagine we want to talk about insurance in public speaking. At first, we share some data, we say why insurance is essential, what are its advantages, its price is specific but it can help us more than that. Now we can tell a story. It means involving the right hemisphere.
For example, we can talk about one of our customers that insurance saved his life or we can tell a sad story about a guy who had many problems because he didn’t have insurance.
If you have noticed, I used the windscreen wipe method now as a public speaking technique. I gave you some information about the brain and its hemispheres, their functions and then I started talking about the windscreen method and now I said an example of insurance.

Practice this public speaking technique on a piece of paper
The suggestion I have which I want you to act on it immediately after reading this article is to practice this method. If you have something in your mind or public speaking in future, try to write some data and facts about it on the left side of a paper. On the right side write some excitements, examples, and stories about that particular subject. Then you can see what a great and useful public speaking you can have with this public speaking technique.
I hope this article and the windscreen wiper method help you have an excellent public speaking so that the audience wouldn’t even move while you are speaking.
