How to have beautiful slides backgrounds?
Most of public speakers and presenters have no idea about their slides backgrounds, and they choose their slides backgrounds based on their personal opinion, and they do not have any particular indicator for deciding the background for slides.
In this blog post, I want to show you what the best background color is? Dark V.S Light
First of all, I need to say there is no the best single answer. Everything depends on the room environment. There are two variables in our decision. The types of screen and light of the room (or conference hall)
Slides background based on types of screens:
There are two types of screens. Electronic displays and projectors.
Electronic displays (e.g., computer screens, LEDs, televisions, etc.) are the best options for presenters because you do not have to make the light dim to show the information on the slides but When slides are too bright, and the screen is bright also, it may harm your audience eyes as like looking at a lightbulb all day!
So if you use the Electronic displays, you need to use dark displays.
On the other hand, if you have to present with the projector, you need to check the power of projector, If the projector is not powerful enough, you have to use light backgrounds (like white) because your audience can not see the information.
Light of the room:
One of the biggest challenges for every presenter is light. If the room is so dark, it will make your audience sleepy and bored. (because of melatonin see more) nothing encourages nap time more than a meeting in the dark!
Never try to turn the lights off to make your slides more visible because you will have the sleepy audience with visible slides! (I preferred to have no slides with wake audiences)
If the room is too bright, and also you have a good projector or electronic display, you can use both backgrounds.
If the room is a little dim, if you have electronic displays, you need to forget having dark backgrounds because the place will be darker.
Slides Backgrounds tips
Tip 1:
If you have electronic displays or powerful projector, you can have both backgrounds, in these situations, I preferred to use one background theme (most of the time, white) and if I want to say something important, I use the dark background for having more attention.
Tip 2:
Always try to recheck the projector or display a few days before your presentation because sometimes there are lots of technical problems.
Tip 3:
Prepare yourself to not use your slides in emergency situations, You can print your slides and use it for this situations.
