As we explained in some of our articles on this website, the text is confusing for the audience. So using pictures in presentations to attract the audience’s attention.
Let me ask you a question. What is 1 + 1? It is obvious that in math the true answer is 2. But in lecture 1 + 1 equals to 0. Why? Because if your slides contain so much text and on the other hand you deliver a speech then no learning would happen. and it’s not actually good. for example, look at this. most speakers are making slides like this.
So many speeches or presenting each day but by these kinds of invariable phones and text that confuse the audience. I know you’re probably mixed up right now. so I turn this slide to Black to make you focus on what I’m saying. so don’t forget that one plus one in presentation equal to zero means that using lots of text in the slide and also the speech of spoke man don’t lead the audience to learn the instruction.
How can you attract the audience’s attention by using pictures in presentations?
We talked about using images in presentations instead of text in the previous paragraph. Now it may have occurred to you what kind of picture draws more attention. do you have to fill your slides with images and shapes like the picture below?
using pictures in presentations should be a valuable skill, not a bunch of irrelevant photos.
Or it’s better to use some different and unique ones?
As a speaker, we all need the attention of the audience and we want their attention to be focused on us. let’s start with a question do you think that our speech would be more attractive than the audience cellphones?
to be honest their cellphones are more interesting so you have to be different and remember that we as a human focus on something which is more different than others.
look at this picture. what have you focused on? of course you are paying attention to the running guy in the middle of the page, or in this photo surely you’re focusing on the biggest shape.
Now, what about this one, of course, you’re paying attention to the red shape because it is more different from others and also in this slide, you are considering the animation shape among all others. so we focus on the different motion as well.
What about this one. Where is your attention on this picture right now? For sure you are looking at this separated shape because our brain focuses on difference distant as well.
as the total results, you saw we almost focus on different things and the important role to gain audience attention is to do what others don’t. it means you have to be different from others.
