Useful methods to start a speech
Starting a speech is important. If you can’t start your speech in the best way you can, you lose the audience’s attention from the beginning.
In this article, I discussed several simple ways and solutions to start a speech.
Some rules to start a speech
It’s essential to start your presentation good. If we can begin our presentation with a pleasant start and manage our talks using some particular principles, we can almost be sure that we won’t get into trouble during the rest of our presentation and the audience will have all their attention.
Also, we have to remember some points that we have to avoid when we want to start a speech.
In this article, I tell you what to do or what not to do to have the best start for your presentation.
If your presentation starts the way you want, it can continue very well. A good start gives better luck to the speaker.
I hope you can have the best presentation after reading this article.
1- A professional comparison!

You can start a speech the way that attracts the audience by comparing two things.
Did you know that a programmer earns 70.000 $ in a year in America and the same programmer earns 14.000 $ in a year in India?
See? Your mind has already started struggling. You look for the same comparison for your country. You know 70.000 $ in a year is an average income in America but is 14.000$ twenty-five times more than average income in India?
Another comparison. Again your mind is involved.
You have to remember that the comparisons must be related. Imagine I am talking about gold price, and I compare it with generator’s cost!!!
The best resource for comparisons is Gallup company’s statistics. Search for your country and every subject you want. It has almost every social statistic. For example, it examines media literacy. It says how much reading people have and how much foolish words they talk. They have interesting research. For example, how much people laugh and the rate of happiness.
So comparison gives us a good start.
There are some actions we have to avoid:
2- Long introductions
When we talk about ourselves all the time.
3- Apologies

When you want to start a speech, don’t start it by apologizing.
For example, we say “I am so glad you are listening to my humble speech,” “I am sorry, my voice is not perfect today,” “I apologize for the delay” when we want to start a speech.
4- Storytelling
Another interesting way to start a speech is telling a joke. Why not?
If they laugh at the beginning of our presentation, it means we impressed them and there, one point for us.
But this one is tricky. If you don’t know how to tell a joke and how to use this skill, you can’t be successful at it. Because we don’t know the audience. For example, imagine you are in front of an audience that has a serious face and doesn’t laugh at all.
So it’s critical to tell jokes when we know how, where and when. If so, it can be a powerful tool to attract your audience and start a good speech.
